If you are looking to completely redesign your garden, we will work with you from start to finish. This involves meeting for an initial consultation to understand your needs. Then we will carry out a full garden survey so that we are able to draw up an accurate, scale plan of your garden, including the levels…
You may be very happy with the layout of your garden but not sure if the planting is right. Perhaps some plants are not thriving as you had hoped, or certain areas are proving to require too much maintenance. We provide a planting advice service both in person and remotely, supply high quality plants and can arrange planting and other soft landscaping services.
Now the dust has settled (literally and figuratively!) we just wanted to drop you a quick line to say how much we appreciated your hard work, dedication and professionalism throughout our garden project. It really could not have been in better hands. We are so pleased with the space: open, green, calming, practical: everything you said it would be. I can't wait to fire up the Egg and use the garden properly now we're back from holiday and have some decent weather! I think it's going to be a genuinely life-changing improvement and we are very, very grateful.
Tom and Lisa, Wiltshire
There’s always a concern when appointing someone new to help. We needed someone to sort an ailing garden and we chose Tom. We need not have worried. Tom was our Calvary who came over the hill. Tom has an excellent eye for design and a good working knowledge of plants. He created a new planted layout for us that we are delighted with. He oversaw the process from beginning to end. From our experience Tom is straight forward, punctual, reliable, trustworthy and knowledgeable. He is our design landscaper and plant expert of choice. Delighted to recommend him to others.
Just to say that we are spending many happy hours in our new garden, even on the rainy days it has been cosy sitting in the summerhouse. The pond is thriving, an ongoing project. We think the fish that appeared may be goldfish, as they are starting to turn orange! We have had a few dragonflies, a lime green & black one - stunning, and an orange/browny one. Also damsel flies and a resident frog!
Tom’s design has ticked all my boxes, and we look forward to enjoying the garden and watching it all grow. I can’t stop looking at it!
Tom guided us through the design process, making every step of the way easy to understand. He gave really good advice to ensure the design fitted with the space we had and the style through the rest of the house. He always offered practical suggestions and solutions that kept the budget down and we are really happy with the final garden design.
Tom transformed our garden from a blank area of grass into a really beautiful extension of the house. It is now a joy to just sit and relax in the garden and be surrounded by colour. Tom is charming, very professional, efficient and thorough, and an excellent designer.
Tom was great – friendly, organised and kept us updated all the while. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
Compass Garden & Landscape Design
Your garden is an extension of your home, and as such requires plenty of ideas, creativity, and passion to get it just right. Too often a garden is neglected, and this means that your home is not achieving its full potential. Whether you are sitting in the garden on a warm summer’s day or looking out on it from a window as the rain pours down, you want to feel inspired and excited by that outdoor space. You may be looking for a garden in which to relax, to entertain, to provide a play space for children or pets, or to get your hands dirty and enjoy being a gardener; whatever your goals, we can help you to grow your garden vision.
Many initial decisions regarding your garden may seem daunting at first. What size and shape patio should I have? Which plants will grow best in these conditions? Which materials would look best in the surroundings? These are questions that a garden designer can answer, whilst also presenting you with exciting ideas you may never have thought of! At Compass, we focus on outstanding design – in terms of both hard landscaping and planting – in gardens of all shapes and sizes.
Lead designer Tom Murphy has been trained at the exclusive Garden Design School and is a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, as well as being a trained horticulturalist. He has helped many clients to transform their gardens into the space they want, from developing and improving the planting, to creating a patio, to indeed starting entirely from scratch and building a dream garden.
Our clients love working with Tom, because he really listens to their needs and ensures that the creation of the garden design is a collaborative one. Everyone has their own style, which should be reflected in the outdoor space. From the initial consultation through to the final construction, Tom will be with you all the way as you share and develop ideas.
